Girl Code 2020

Girl Code 2020

We’re thrilled to announce that the ‘Girl Code’ programme has been awarded funds from the Tampon Tax Community Fund – administered by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland – for the second year.

The programme, which runs specifically in rural areas, is designed to introduce pre-secondary school age girls to IT, tech and the basics of coding. Not only do we aim to provide an introduction to topics and technologies that are often harder to access in rural areas, but we hope to inspire participants to take a further interest in STEM subjects and technology in general.

Girl Code was initially run during the Spring/Summer of 2019, with funds used to pilot and develop the programme. An overwhelming success, the programme will now return for 2020 in new areas (Coleraine & Ballymoney) and with the ambition to grow even further during the year ahead.

If you want more information about Girl Code, or know of a group of young people who you think might benefit from being involved, contact Sarah Geddis ([email protected]).
